Cousin time in Cortez, CO

My cousin Jamie (originally from southeastern PA, like me in a way) is a geologist that works for the government and has pretty much a lifetime commitment to the west due to his chosen profession. Not a bad gig really. Surrounded by vast tracks of open land and plenty of opportunity for a more laid-back lifestyle to that of the east. When last we met in the U.S., he and his family were in Idaho but traded that in for the more southwestern feel of Cortez, Colorado.

When we arrived it was just in time to celebrate a birthday with Lara at the local sushi bar (amazing food!) with later cake and ice cream at home.

The next morning Jamie took me to a local mountain bike trail with breathtaking sights: mountain lions up power poles, zapped by the very power lines it trusted to save it from whatever was chasing it; perfect lakes and desert trails. All in all, a nice but short visit.

happy birthday to Lara
