Ages ago, in what seemed like another life, we once lived in the Phoenix area where we were quite contentedly involved in a church small group comprised entirely of young marrieds who became young parents. Collective ignorance combined, we enjoyed a lot of fun times together at church events or camping in Payson or hiking in Sedona. Then we went to Africa, and a few of those families went to Utah, and another headed to the south, and just this year another family moved to Alaska. Scattered is what we are so when it works out to have a time and place together for some catch-up, it’s a cherished event.
We headed to a reservoir outside of Layton for an evening of picnicking, swimming and kayaking. Crazy to see so many kids all grown and growing up now when we pretty much remember everyone pre-kids. I guess that’s what it’s like when you’ve known someone a long time, and there is a safe comfort in that.
